Tierra Designs Ltd is a RHS award winning garden design and build company based in Hertfordshire. The company is run by Julian Cant and Simon Chasey who strive to create gardens of original beauty using natural materials that will evolve and thrive over time.
Simon Chasey and Julian Cant met while working for a landscape company in West London, it was there that they began making plans for their own design and build company. Having at the time over 12 years of experience in the field it was only a matter of time before a partnership was formed.
By the end of the year it was clear their new company was sustainable and this gave Simon and Julian the knowledge that they would be able to make a living from carrying out something they both loved in the manner they desired. It was soon decided that as project value and sizes increased the business should become a Limited Company, and it was here in 2003 that Tierra Designs Ltd was born.
Within the first year of business Simon and Julian teamed up with fellow designer Gill Vaughan to win a Silver Gilt medal awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society for the 'Black and White Garden' featured on BBC Gardeners World Live. Throughout the years the scope and breadth of works has increased along with our workforce.
Always having a love of gardening, Julian studied Landscape Management at Reading University. Upon his graduation he joined a Landscape company in London, beginning his time as a landscape operative before moving on to become the in-house designer.
Simon's ambition was to design and build gardens for people in London, setting about realising this ambition Simon set himself as a sole trader. At this time he was living in Wokingham and in order to establish himself in London he made the decision to join a landscape firm in the capital. It was here as Head of the Landscape Division he met Julian and they created the partnership which evolved into Tierra Designs Ltd.
Dave initially joined the team in January 2007 as a garden maintenance operative with an excellent knowledge of plants, having worked previously at West london gardens for 7 years before joining Tierra Designs Ltd. Benefitting from his previous experience and his 8 years with us, Dave has become an excellent all round landscaper and site foreman, specialising in the soft landscaping elements and the logistical side of running and seeing through a project from the initial design to completion.
Peter joined Tierra Designs Ltd in May 2013, already an experienced landscaper having over nine years in the industry. He started his career working in garden and landscape maintenance before moving into a more a dedicated landscaping role.
Peter's attitude to landscaping and his enjoyment in bringing a garden to fruition from the design phase make him an excellent addition to the team. His previous experience in garden maintenance gives Peter an excellent feel for the planting elements within a design.
Adam joined Tierra Designs Ltd in September 2015 having worked for the last 8 years at a Landscape and paving centre in Hertfordshire. His vast knowledge of the products available within the sector, along with his desire to gain experience in the practical landscaping operations make him a valued addition to the team.
Lewis Joined the Tierra team on a part time basis a few years ago, and became a full time member shortly afterwards. Having spent many years in the building, and hard landscaping trade Lewis’s knowledge of site logistics is invaluable. A burgeoning passion for plants, and a great understanding of the logistical complexities of bringing a design to fruition, make him a huge asset.
